A tragic incident unfolded on Towans Beach in Hayle, Cornwall, as emergency responders attempted to rescue a surfer who unfortunately lost his life.
The local man, identified as Paul Norman Faulkner, aged 51, was pronounced dead despite the swift arrival of the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT), Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA), and Devon and Cornwall Police (DCP) at approximately 1:25 pm on Monday, April 13.
Reportedly, the man experienced a medical emergency after surfing at the Sandy Acres location in Hayle, as per Cornwall Live.
According to a spokesperson from Devon and Cornwall Police, they received a call from the ambulance service regarding a man in distress after surfing near Sandy Acres, Hayle, resulting in his tragic passing at the scene. The deceased, a resident in his 50s, has been identified and his family informed.
An inquest is set to investigate the circumstances surrounding Mr. Faulkner’s death, who hailed from St Ives, and will be scheduled for a later date.
