The Princess of Wales offered a comforting embrace to hero police officer Tony Glendhill during an emotional encounter at Buckingham Palace. The occasion was a reception honoring the late Queen Elizabeth II’s 100th birth anniversary, attended by various guests representing organizations she supported, such as Cancer Research UK and the British Red Cross Society.

Accompanied by a full complement of working royals, including the Prince and Princess of Wales, Duke of Kent, and Princess Alexandra, the attendees mingled at the event. Kate engaged in a heartfelt conversation with Mr. Gledhill, an 88-year-old George Cross recipient recognized for his bravery in 1966 while serving as a constable in the Met.

Following a touching moment where Kate embraced Mr. Gledhill, he revealed that his late wife had encouraged him to attend the palace event before her passing. Praising Kate’s support, he described her as “fantastic.” The gathering included a rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ led by the King for three centenarians, with special cards presented by the royal couple.

The Marble Hall at the palace was transformed into a festive setting, adorned with decorations resembling a street party. Guests enjoyed a tribute cocktail in honor of Queen Elizabeth II, featuring her favorite Dubonnet. The celebration included interactions with notable guests like Mary Wood, a centenarian nurse who shared a birthday with the late Queen, reminiscing about past encounters with the Royal Family.

Charles and other royals engaged in conversations with the attendees, including members of the Royal Association for Deaf People. The event culminated in a joyful atmosphere, with guests participating in birthday celebrations and enjoying the royal hospitality.
