Sky has recently released a significant update for its popular Glass TVs and Stream boxes, available at no cost to users who own these devices. The latest upgrade, now reaching households, brings various new features, such as the capability to manage Sky’s internet-connected devices using a smartphone and set program reminders for any content in the TV guide.

Additionally, the settings menu has been revamped for smoother navigation, and new accessibility options have been included, like enhanced contrast controls for text and backgrounds within Sky applications. According to the company, “Sky’s continuously improving operating system, Sky OS, has been enhanced to provide Sky Glass and Stream customers with smarter ways to control their TV.”

For owners of Sky Glass TV, Sky Glass Air device, or Sky Stream box, these features are on their way without the need for manual intervention. The update installs automatically, ensuring a seamless user experience.

Among the new features now available on these devices is the ability to set reminders for favorite shows. Users can easily set reminders for upcoming programs, eliminating the need to search for the remote when important events like a Premier League match or season finale are about to start. By accessing the show page and selecting “Set a reminder,” users receive notifications when the show begins.

A new feature allows users to control their TV through the digital Sky remote app on iOS and Android devices. This app enables quick access to favorite shows, channel changes, and playback control with just a tap. Moreover, users can benefit from built-in accessibility features like screen reader support.

Sky has also simplified its settings, making them more accessible with a quick press of the remote buttons. The company has relocated the quick access menu for faster navigation to settings like picture and sound adjustments, parental controls, and accessibility features.

Furthermore, a range of new accessibility features has been introduced, including an upgraded voice guidance experience, high contrast options in Sky apps, magnification mode, and on-demand audio description for Sky content.
