Tim Peake witnessed the iconic Spitfire’s final flight as it celebrated its 90th anniversary. The British astronaut observed the commemorative Spitfire90 tour’s last journey, viewing from a WWII-era C-47 Dakota aircraft as the legendary fighter flew from Exeter to Southampton. The event was more than just a flypast; it was a moving tribute to the Spitfire’s significant role in the nation’s history and a nod to the RAF’s illustrious past. This final flight, marking the 90th anniversary of the iconic aircraft, raised over £100k for RAF charities, benefitting personnel, veterans, and their families, as well as providing aviation opportunities for disabled individuals. Tim Peake, onboard the C-47 Dakota, watched in awe as the Spitfire, painted in the original colors of the prototype K5054, soared through the skies on this historic occasion.
