A California tutor and games developer, Cole Allen, is set to face charges for allegedly attempting an attack on President Donald Trump during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington DC. The incident led to the evacuation of Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and other officials as Allen breached security and opened fire in the venue’s foyer. Allen, a graduate of the California Institute of Technology, had previously expressed disdain for Trump and his administration on social media, describing Trump as a “sociopathic mob boss” and a “satanic idolator.” He also criticized JD Vance and questioned the authenticity of Trump’s Christian faith.

Authorities revealed that Allen traveled from California to Washington, where he infiltrated the event venue and initiated the attack. Despite his attempt to reach the ballroom, he was subdued by Secret Service personnel, resulting in gunfire. US Attorney General Todd Blanche indicated that Allen’s targets likely included administration members, including the president.

Following the incident, Trump emphasized the need for enhanced security measures, citing his plans for a classified ballroom in the White House’s East Wing. The incident highlighted the importance of such security measures, according to Trump, who suggested that the new facilities could have prevented the attack.

Allen acted alone during the assault, and investigations are ongoing to determine his motives and potential accomplices.
