Donald Trump has stated that the United States does not require the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing that the country’s military presence in the region serves the interests of other nations. During his visit to China, Trump made these remarks in an interview with Fox News, underscoring the strategic importance of the strait. He mentioned that the US military involvement in the area benefits countries like Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, and Bahrain.

In discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Trump highlighted their shared stance on the Iran conflict, expressing a mutual desire to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. Trump emphasized the importance of keeping the Strait open while addressing various other issues during his visit to Beijing. Both leaders engaged in talks aimed at resolving key global challenges, with Trump praising their ability to address complex issues effectively.

While addressing the media, Trump disclosed that China has a vested interest in keeping the Strait of Hormuz operational due to its significant oil imports from the region. Xi Jinping reportedly offered assistance in finding a solution to reopen the strait, indicating a willingness to cooperate on this matter. Trump also indicated that China has diverse demands from the US, reflecting the complexity of their bilateral relationship.

On a separate note, Melania Trump did not accompany President Trump on his China visit, as she remained dedicated to her initiatives supporting American families and children. The trip also saw clashes between Chinese officials and US Secret Service agents, highlighting tensions during the high-profile visit. Additionally, discussions between Admiral Brad Cooper and US legislators hinted at the US military’s capability to permanently reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

In a social media post, Trump defended his administration’s policies and interactions with China, countering criticisms and emphasizing the strength of US-China relations. The visit concluded with Trump’s departure from China, marking the end of a series of diplomatic engagements and discussions between the two nations.
