A tennis enthusiast who gained online popularity for supporting Emma Raducanu has been ejected from the Australian Open for disruptive behavior. James Bray made headlines after Raducanu acknowledged him following her win over Mananchaya Sawangkaew.
During the match, Bray, wearing an ‘Australia’ tank top, affectionately referred to Raducanu as ‘Raddo’. Raducanu, in her post-match interview, thanked him and dubbed him her new nickname. However, Bray’s cheering turned rowdy while supporting Alex de Minaur against Frances Tiafoe, leading to his expulsion from the Rod Laver Arena.
Bray documented the incident on his Instagram story, showing police officers instructing him to leave for 24 hours with a fine. Despite the situation, Bray sarcastically expressed gratitude for being kicked out for being too enthusiastic.
After being escorted out, Bray expressed his disappointment, claiming he was unfairly removed despite not causing any disruptions. Tennis Australia confirmed that Bray had received warnings before his removal.
Authorities reported that 21 individuals, including Bray, were evicted for various behavior-related issues. Victoria Police commended the overall crowd behavior at the Australian Open and anticipated a successful continuation of the event.
