O2, the renowned UK mobile network now under Virgin Media, is spreading holiday joy by generously offering millions of customers an extra 10GB of mobile data at no cost in December. This bonus is a significant benefit, particularly during a time when people are more active.

Eligible customers will automatically receive the free 10GB added to their monthly data allowance, visible in their account and the MyO2 app sometime within the month. Simply check your settings to see the additional data.

The complimentary data does not come with any usage restrictions, allowing users to utilize it for activities like streaming movies, sharing photos, or engaging in video calls on platforms such as FaceTime. According to O2, this giveaway is a thank you gesture for being a loyal O2 customer.

The offer is applicable to all Pay Monthly subscribers, excluding those already on Unlimited plans or business tariffs. If you are on a standard monthly plan without unlimited data, you can expect your festive freebie to be available soon.

Christian Hindennach, Chief Commercial Officer at Virgin Media O2, expressed, “This season is about connecting with loved ones, and we aim to facilitate that. With this 10GB data boost, customers can enjoy streaming holiday movies, gaming, or video calling distant friends and family. It’s our way of spreading some extra joy and showing appreciation to our O2 users.”

The additional data provided could equate to approximately 20 hours of video calls, streaming 2,000 songs, or around four and a half hours of HD Netflix or Disney+ viewing, as per O2’s estimation.

This complimentary offer aligns with Ofcom’s recent Connected Nations report, indicating a 10% increase in mobile data consumption by UK smartphone users in 2025 compared to the previous year, totaling a staggering 1.2 billion GB monthly.
