England cricket player Ben Stokes suffered a severe facial injury, breaking what is considered a cardinal rule for cricket coaches. Stokes shared a photo on Instagram showcasing a black eye, bruises, scratches, and a bandaged nose. In a light-hearted remark, he joked about the condition of the cricket ball.

The cause of Stokes’ injuries was revealed to be an incident during coaching at Durham’s indoor facility, where a young player accidentally hit a ball towards him. Stokes, taken to the hospital afterward, contacted the player to reassure him. Durham coach Ryan Campbell highlighted the importance of not turning one’s back on the batter in such situations.

Stokes, who is recovering from a groin injury suffered during the Ashes Test, is expected to return to play for Durham before the upcoming Test against Australia. Despite his recent setbacks, Stokes remains focused on his cricket career and potential coaching aspirations post-retirement.
