Beloved romance writer Carley Fortune has revealed that her sixth book, “Only in Summer,” is set to launch on May 18, 2027. The novel transports readers back to the cherished town of Barry’s Bay, Ontario, the backdrop of Fortune’s earlier works, “Every Summer After” and “One Golden Summer,” as well as her hometown.
Fortune shared in a newsletter that she recently acquired a cottage near Barry’s Bay, fulfilling her longstanding dream since selling her family lakeside property. The storyline of “Only in Summer” revolves around Eleanor Florek, known as Ellie, who shares Ellie’s aspiration of owning property in Barry’s Bay. When Ellie manages to save up for her dream property, she discovers a neighboring house is being torn down for a grand mansion by the new owner.
While details are scarce, it’s hinted that a hesitant romance may blossom in the lakeside environment. Carley Fortune, a Toronto-based writer and journalist with editorial experience at Refinery29, The Globe and Mail, Chatelaine, and Toronto Life, has previously penned books like “Our Perfect Storm,” “One Golden Summer,” “Every Summer After,” “This Summer Will Be Different,” and “Meet Me at the Lake.”
“Meet Me at the Lake” was a finalist on Canada Reads in 2024, championed by fashion influencer Mirian Njoh, marking the first romance novel to feature on the show. Additionally, “Every Summer After” inspired the Amazon Prime Video series “Every Year After,” renewed for a second season, while Netflix Canada is set to adapt “This Summer Will Be Different” into a 10-episode series.
The upcoming release of “Only in Summer” by Carley Fortune has stirred anticipation among fans, promising another captivating tale set in the picturesque landscapes of Barry’s Bay.
