A British vacationer was swiftly taken to the hospital after plunging from the second story of a Lanzarote hotel into a shallow fish pond populated with Koi carp and terrapins.
Emergency responders, including firefighters and medical personnel, came to the aid of the holidaymaker at the luxurious H10 Rubicon Horizons Collection hotel in Playa Blanca. The incident occurred late on Saturday night, with the man landing in a fish pond approximately 15 inches deep situated two floors below the street level near a hotel buffet area.
Although details of the incident surfaced over the weekend, specific information about the 70-year-old man’s nationality and age was only confirmed recently. According to sources familiar with the situation, it is being viewed as an accidental fall. Reportedly, the man was with his wife on the second floor when he leaned over to observe the fish pond below, leading to his loss of balance and subsequent fall.
Upon the arrival of the firefighters, medical staff had already secured the elderly tourist with a neck brace and placed him on a rescue board for extraction. Subsequently, he was transported to Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote. As of now, there is no immediate update on his condition.
Following the incident, local police and Civil Guard officers were activated by an emergency response coordination center managed by the regional government. The hotel, previously known as H10 Rubicon Palace but now operating under a new name, declined to provide any statements citing client confidentiality.
Described as an adults-only beachfront destination, the hotel boasts a five-star rating and features interior design elements inspired by the charm of Lanzarote. Playa Blanca, situated in the southern region of Lanzarote, is a highly favored destination among British visitors.
