A recent photograph of the King has been released, showing him recording a message to the nation commemorating the 100th anniversary of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
The Mirror disclosed earlier this month that Charles would be recording a special video message to honor the late Queen’s life and legacy, set to be released tomorrow. Sources close to the King revealed that he intends to uphold the values of duty, honesty, and integrity cherished by his mother during her 70-year reign in his heartfelt message.
Charles, who faced challenges at the beginning of his reign following Queen Elizabeth II’s passing on September 8, 2022, has been dealing with personal health issues and managing his brother Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s controversies. Last October, the King permanently expelled Andrew from the royal circle due to new disturbing revelations regarding his association with Jeffrey Epstein.
Despite battling cancer since his diagnosis in February 2024, Charles recently received the news that his treatment frequency would be reduced, allowing him to cope better with the illness. The King, aged 77, remains highly popular, with 60% of Britons having a positive view of his reign. Notably, Charles has been recognized for his tireless work ethic, being unofficially crowned the ‘hardest working royal’ for his numerous public engagements.
Palace insiders indicate that the King is fully committed to his role and aims for the 100th birthday celebrations, which he will lead through public events and a special gathering at Buckingham Palace, to be a joyous occasion celebrating a remarkable life and legacy rather than a somber affair.
An insider noted, “The beginning of the King’s reign has had its challenges, but there have been many moments of celebration too. Despite adversity, he has shown great positivity, continuing his cancer treatment while maintaining a rigorous work schedule. His upcoming message will honor a remarkable life and signify his renewed commitment to serving the nation and the Commonwealth, emphasizing the values of fairness and concern for others.”
In 2015, Queen Elizabeth II became Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, surpassing Queen Victoria’s record. The nation marked the queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022, celebrating her 70-year reign before her peaceful passing at her Balmoral residence in Scotland at the age of 96.
Today, the King will commence a series of engagements to honor his late mother alongside other members of the Royal Family. This evening, he and Queen Camilla will visit the King’s Gallery at Buckingham Palace to view the exhibition “Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style,” featuring the largest display of the queen’s attire.
Tomorrow, on the centenary day, the King will host a special reception at Buckingham Palace for representatives from organizations and charities closely linked to Queen Elizabeth. Charles has meticulously selected guests from the numerous patronages the late Queen was involved with throughout her life.
Senior royal family members are expected to join the King and Queen at Buckingham Palace for the reception. The Prince and Princess of Wales, as well as the Princess Royal and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, are also looking forward to attending the event.
