Justin Rose expressed his aspirations of achieving a career Grand Slam, following his victory at the Farmers Insurance Open where he surpassed Tiger Woods’ scoring record. The 45-year-old golfer, ranked world No.3, also hinted that he is not yet considering taking on the role of the next European Ryder Cup captain if Luke Donald opts out in 2027.
Rose, who began the tournament with an impressive 62, claimed victory at Torrey Pines with a total score of 23-under 265, setting a new record for the course. He humorously acknowledged Woods during a post-win interview, emphasizing his focus on breaking the previous scoring record in the final holes.
Having risen from world No.55 last year to his current ranking, Rose credited his recent successes to his improved performance and mental approach. With 13 tour titles under his belt, including wins at prestigious venues like Muirfield Village and Pebble Beach, Rose remains determined to achieve more in his career, particularly focusing on winning additional major championships.
Reflecting on his career goals, Rose emphasized his desire to excel in major tournaments, highlighting his near misses at the Open and the Masters. Despite acknowledging the daunting challenge of completing a career Grand Slam, he remains optimistic, drawing confidence from recent strong performances.
In contrast, Brooks Koepka, who finished tied 56th in his return to the PGA Tour, faces the upcoming start of the Saudi-backed league season. While some players have been enticed by alternative opportunities, Rose reaffirmed his commitment to competing on both the European Tour and the PGA Tour, driven by the challenge of facing the world’s best players and pursuing his ultimate career objectives.
