Singer and actress Selena Gomez is facing a lawsuit from investors who allege that she engaged in fraudulent activities by failing to meet her obligations to develop and promote her mental health startup.
The investors injected close to $1.2 million US (equivalent to $1.67 million) into Wondermind Global, a venture launched in 2021 with a focus on enhancing users’ “mental fitness.” The legal complaint, lodged in federal court in Delaware, claims that Gomez, a prominent figure on social media boasting over 500 million followers, was expected to play a significant role in the company’s growth as the head of marketing. However, investors claim that Gomez and other executives fell short of commitments, such as the creation of a mobile application.
According to the lawsuit, Gomez allegedly entered into a contractual agreement to fulfill her responsibilities but failed to follow through. The plaintiffs assert that the company lacked a legitimate business strategy and failed to meet even the most fundamental obligations, such as timely payments to staff and vendors.
A spokesperson for Gomez has not provided an immediate response to the request for comment. The lawsuit reveals that the investors were unaware of the company’s challenges until they were disclosed in an online news report in September 2025. The plaintiffs are seeking to recover their investments and legal costs.
