White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt is set to depart at the end of the month, as confirmed by U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday. This development leaves the President without one of his key advisors as the November midterm elections approach.
Leavitt will transition to an external communications consultant and political strategist, influencing the future direction of Trump’s “Make America Great Again” movement, as stated by both Leavitt and Trump. In a social media post, the 28-year-old Leavitt expressed her intention to dedicate more time to her young children, particularly after the recent birth of her daughter, her second child.
President Trump praised Leavitt’s contributions, highlighting her leadership and unwavering commitment to key values such as Justice, Liberty, and Freedom since 2018, including her significant role in the Historic Re-Election Campaign of 2024. Trump lauded Leavitt as one of the most exceptional White House Press Secretaries in the history of the Office.
Describing her tenure at the White House as “the honor and adventure of a lifetime,” Leavitt originally joined Trump’s 2024 campaign and later transitioned to the role of White House press secretary, becoming the youngest individual to hold this position.
Notably, there is no specified successor for Leavitt’s high-profile position in the White House as Trump’s administration moves forward.
Former principal deputy press secretary to Trump, Harrison Fields, commended Leavitt’s unique ability to effectively communicate the President’s message. Fields emphasized Leavitt’s profound understanding of Trump’s communication style and her adeptness in engaging with the media to resonate with the President’s audience.
