In London during the lead-up to the festive season, Apple’s iPad is bringing a special delight to onlookers. The renowned tablet is showcasing 24 holiday-themed designs on the iconic towers of Battersea Power Station, a location that Apple also calls its UK home.
These vibrant artworks have been carefully selected from numerous entries submitted by the public for Apple’s “Your Tree on Battersea” contest. As night falls, the images will illuminate two of the towering chimneys standing 101 meters high above the River Thames.
Expressing her excitement, Varsha Simha, a resident of Canterbury, shared, “I am thrilled to be chosen in this competition. My inspiration came from the cozy Christmas market atmosphere with sweaters, stockings, and all things warm during the coldest months.”
Additionally, Miah D.B, a 7-year-old winner, expressed happiness, saying, “I am delighted to be selected. I created this tree on my iPad because I enjoy drawing on it, drawing inspiration from emotions.”
Joining the winners are drawings from well-known personalities, including Kylie Minogue, Sir Stephen Fry, Maro Itoje, Oliver Jeffers, David Shrigley OBE, and Chawawa.
This competition continues Apple’s tradition of celebrating holiday creativity and marks the company’s first public participation initiative. In the past, artist David Hockney produced “Bigger Christmas Trees on iPad Pro” in 2023, and last year, Aardman, the creator of Wallace & Gromit, utilized the iPhone 16 Pro Max for a short animation.
Chawawa expressed, “Hosting Apple’s inaugural iPad Christmas tree competition is a significant moment for me. From being a child spending weekends at the store capturing photos on an iPad, to now leading Your Tree on Battersea, it’s truly special. I love that we are uniting the nation to craft Christmas trees on iPad and illuminate them across the greatest city in the world.”
The captivating images will brighten up Battersea from now until Christmas Eve.
