The most affordable destination for a week-long getaway in the sun has been unveiled as budget-conscious travelers seek cost-effective options for spring or summer vacations. According to pricing data for package holidays departing between June 1 and August 31, the average cost per person for a week at this coastal location is £230, translating to a wallet-friendly £33 per night. Agadir, a Moroccan coastal town, claimed the top spot due to its economical flight and hotel packages, as well as the generally low prices for food, drinks, and activities. Known for its extensive coastline with Blue Flag status, Agadir offers five miles of sandy beaches and popular surfing spots with natural swimming pools available during high tide.

Visitors can stroll along the vibrant promenade lined with palm trees, featuring various dining options, bars, souvenir shops, and opportunities to rent surfboards and water sports equipment. The modern city center boasts numerous restaurants, malls, and shopping areas, including the popular Marina Shopping Mall with international brands and outdoor dining spots. Bargain hunters can explore the bustling Souk El Had market, where haggling is customary among the diverse stalls offering colorful rugs and textiles. Despite the earthquake destruction of Agadir’s historical center in the 1960s, tourists can still experience the essence of the old city at La Médina d’Agadir, a recreated traditional market. For a glimpse of traditional Berber life, a tour of Souss-Massa National Park featuring a visit to a Berber village is recommended.

Agadir is an ideal destination for a May half-term holiday, with temperatures reaching 26°C and dry weather perfect for beach and pool days. Families can enjoy attractions like Crocopark, a zoo specializing in reptiles, and Agadir Dolphin World, offering dolphin shows and interactive experiences with these marine mammals. Travelers have the option to book flights and accommodations separately, with airlines like Ryanair, Jet2, and easyJet offering affordable fares from various airports, with flight durations of around 4 hours.
