Virgin Media has emerged as the top choice for households seeking superior broadband speeds, reliability, and consistent service quality, according to a recent assessment by Opensignal. The UK-based Internet Service Provider (ISP) outperformed its competitors in all key categories, including Download Speed, Upload Speed, Video Experience, and Consistent Quality.
Andrey Popov, Principal Analyst, highlighted Virgin Media’s exceptional performance, attributing it to the ISP’s upgraded cable-to-fibre network. Virgin’s dominant position was particularly evident in Download Speed, registering 187.8Mbps, and Reliability Experience with 747 points.
Following closely behind Virgin Media in the rankings was Vodafone, which also delivered strong results across all metrics. Vodafone’s dual-network strategy, operating on both the Openreach and CityFibre networks, distinguished it from other providers reliant on a single network infrastructure.
Other notable ISPs mentioned in the evaluation included BT, securing third place in Consistent Quality and Download Speed, and Sky, recognized for its commendable Video Experience.
However, the review also highlighted underperforming ISPs, with Three ranking lowest in Consistent Quality, Upload Speed, Video Experience, and Reliability Experience. TalkTalk faced challenges in download speeds, averaging 55.1Mbps, significantly lower than Virgin Media’s impressive score.
