The family of Virginia Giuffre has issued a heartfelt request for King Charles to meet with them during his upcoming tour in the United States. Sky Roberts, the brother of Ms. Giuffre, emphasized that such a meeting would demonstrate solidarity with survivors, including those affected by the actions of Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted pedophile financier. King Charles and Queen Camilla are scheduled to visit the US for a four-day trip, where they are set to meet with President Donald Trump.
Mr. Roberts and his family view this visit as a unique opportunity for King Charles to engage with them briefly, allowing them to convey their humanity and emotions. Speaking on Newsnight, Mr. Roberts emphasized the importance of King Charles standing in support of survivors, highlighting their proximity to the King’s itinerary during their lobbying efforts.
During their visit, King Charles and Queen Camilla will attend a White House banquet and King Charles has been invited to address a joint session of the US Congress. Recent revelations from a BBC investigation uncovered that Epstein continued to house women in London flats for years after law enforcement chose not to investigate Ms. Giuffre’s initial claims in 2015.
Mr. Roberts criticized the failures of both the FBI and the Metropolitan Police in the UK for not taking Ms. Giuffre’s allegations seriously, potentially preventing further abuse. The Roberts family, along with Lisa Phillips, another Epstein survivor, are advocating for a public inquiry into the allegations against Epstein in the UK. They stress the importance of further investigations and evidence discovery in light of recent findings regarding Epstein’s continued activities post-allegations.
In Congress, controversy arose over reports suggesting some Republican committee members were considering offering clemency to Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former partner, in exchange for her testimony. This development sparked debate within the committee investigating Epstein’s case.
