A new Minecraft-themed attraction called Minecraft World is set to open at Chessington World of Adventures in 2027. This £50 million project is a collaboration between Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios, bringing the popular game’s elements to life in a major theme park setting.
The immersive park will feature iconic biomes, mobs, and items from Minecraft, offering visitors a physical experience of the virtual game. While the announcement about the themed land coming to the UK was known earlier, the specific location at Chessington has now been disclosed.
Visitors can expect new Minecraft-inspired rides, interactive adventures, block-built playscapes, and themed retail and dining options within the park. Angela Jobson, SVP of global brand at Merlin Entertainments, expressed excitement about the project, highlighting the opportunity for families and friends to engage in creative and adventurous experiences together on a grand scale.
Although details about the rides are scarce, the park assures that they will embody the essence of Minecraft. The transformation of the former Wild Asia area into the Minecraft zone has already commenced.
Torfi Frans Ólafsson, senior creative director of Entertainment at Minecraft, emphasized the significance of Minecraft World in expanding the game’s universe. The collaboration aims to provide an immersive and authentic space where visitors can embark on adventures in the Minecraft Overworld with their loved ones.
Chessington World of Adventures, located just a 35-minute direct train ride from London Waterloo, will keep fans updated on the development through its website and social media channels. In the meantime, visitors can anticipate the opening of the World of PAW Patrol in spring 2026 at Chessington, featuring various themed rides and interactive experiences for young children.
