Multiple airlines are taking action in response to a deepening crisis in jet fuel availability, leading to flight cancellations and new fees being introduced across the global aviation sector.

The surge in fuel prices, escalating from approximately $85-$90 per barrel to as high as $150-$200, is primarily attributed to heightened tensions related to the US-Israeli conflict with Iran.

Carriers are now grappling with the significant increase in costs, resulting in fare hikes, route reductions, and financial reassessments. The spike in prices has raised concerns about potential disruptions, with warnings that Europe could face jet fuel shortages in as little as six weeks if the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, according to Fatih Birol, the chief of the International Energy Agency.
