A man in Pennsylvania, Michael Mikula, faced charges after authorities discovered the corpse of his wife, Sharlene Mikula, in their home. The police found Mrs. Mikula deceased at the age of 66 in their residence in South Londonderry Township, following a wellness check.
Michael Mikula was charged with several offenses, including abuse of a corpse, neglecting a dependent person, recklessly endangering another individual, and tampering with evidence. Authorities alleged that Mikula went to great lengths to hide his wife’s body, which remained undiscovered for at least a month.
Upon arrival at the couple’s home on April 14, officers found Mrs. Mikula’s body in an advanced state of decomposition. Mikula initially denied his wife’s presence when speaking to the police through a Ring doorbell but later admitted to her passing and claimed innocence.
The investigation into Mrs. Mikula’s death is ongoing, with authorities yet to determine the cause of death due to the body’s deteriorated condition. Mikula, currently in custody on a $100,000 bail, is scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing on April 23.
