Trump’s move has drawn criticism, with Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly denouncing the decision as shortsighted and a mistake.
The joint military exercises involving 18,000 South Korean soldiers over 11 days were designed to enhance readiness against North Korean threats. The U.S. military stated that these exercises reinforce regional peace and security, emphasizing the strong commitment between the U.S. and South Korea to defend their territories. The training included various scenarios such as live-fire exercises, precision targeting, and maneuvering.
North Korea has threatened a strong response to the U.S. and South Korea for conducting these military drills, labeling them as preparations for aggressive warfare.
