Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, announced on Friday a global recall of over 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a seat belt concern. The recall affects Ram 1500 vehicles manufactured from 2019 to 2026, where the second-row center or second-row driver side seat belt buckle anchor may not have been properly attached to the vehicle body structure. This issue could compromise the functionality of the second-row seat belt system, potentially increasing the risk of injury to passengers. While Stellantis is aware of one injury associated with the recall, there have been no reported fatalities.
The recall encompasses 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and approximately 75,000 in other regions outside North America. Stellantis will inform affected vehicle owners to contact dealers for an inspection. Dealers will examine the second-row center and second-row driver seat belt buckle anchor and, if necessary, securely attach it to the vehicle’s body structure.
