A half-million pound renovation is underway at the UK’s largest waterpark, recently recognized as one of the world’s top waterparks, just in time for the upcoming Easter break.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the waterpark, located in Blackpool, offers a consistent tropical experience with its year-round heating to 28C, making it an attractive destination regardless of the weather outside.
Situated on Blackpool’s iconic promenade near popular attractions like Pleasure Beach and South Pier, Sandcastle Waterpark features 18 slides catering to both adrenaline seekers and families with children, including the renowned Master Blaster, the longest indoor water rollercoaster in the UK.
The ongoing enhancements at the waterpark involve upgrading the changing village, introducing lockers with digital PIN codes for added security, repainting the rides, and installing a new audio system. The first phase of the refurbishment has been completed, as announced in a recent Facebook post.
Currently operating on weekends only, the waterpark will resume weekday operations at the end of the month, just in time for the Easter holidays, and will be open seven days a week during peak seasons like summer.
Advance online tickets for guests aged eight and above are priced at £24.95 per person, while children aged three to seven can enjoy the waterpark with online tickets at £15.95, and under twos enter for free, all for a three-hour session packed with exhilarating waterslides.
Visitors can experience unique attractions like the Sidewinder, the world’s first Indoor half-pipe waterslide, Montazooma for a quick adrenaline rush, and the Duelling Dragons, a competitive racing slide featuring green and red tracks.
Younger guests can enjoy attractions like the Treetops Water Chutes and the Caribbean Storm Treehouse, an interactive splash park with engaging elements like water buckets and cannons.
For those seeking a more exclusive experience, Tiki Cabanas are available for booking, offering a private retreat with all-day waterpark access, a private hot tub, TV, soft drinks, and lunch for £60 per person, making it ideal for extended stays.
In addition to the family-friendly attractions, the waterpark features a spa area exclusively for guests over 18, providing amenities such as a sauna, heated loungers, and steam rooms for an additional £7 on top of the admission fee.
Located on Blackpool’s seafront, guests can explore other nearby attractions after their waterpark visit, including heritage tram rides, beach activities, Pasaje del Terror for a thrilling horror experience, and the renowned rollercoasters at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
