Dolly Parton’s extensive record of charitable acts has been well-documented, but a heartwarming tribute from her sister sheds light on the depth of her altruism. Stella Parton shared on Instagram that she and Dolly used to have early morning phone calls every Tuesday while enjoying coffee together.

In one of their final conversations, Dolly expressed her willingness to undergo experimental treatments even if there was no hope for her, with the hope of benefiting others in the future. While CBC News reached out to Dolly Parton’s publicist for confirmation on her experimental treatments, no response has been received.

Although details on Dolly’s medical treatments remain unconfirmed, her significant contribution to medical research is widely recognized. In November 2020, it was disclosed that she generously donated $1 million to Nashville’s Vanderbilt University Medical Center for COVID-19 research, aiding in the development of the Moderna mRNA coronavirus vaccine.

Dolly’s commitment to medical advancements was further demonstrated when she publicly received her first vaccine dose, singing a modified version of her hit song “Jolene” during the process. Dr. Naji Abumrad, who administered the vaccine, had a longstanding friendship with Dolly since their initial meeting at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2013.

Jad Abumrad, Dr. Abumrad’s son and creator of the podcast “Dolly Parton’s America,” revealed in a recent New York Times piece that his father was by Dolly’s side in her final moments. Stella Parton emphasized Dolly’s genuine character in her tribute, describing her as a remarkably generous, thoughtful, and kind individual who made the world a better place by her presence.
