Various scenarios may unfold in the near future regarding the war situation in Iran, but unfortunately, all paths seem to lead to more violence, with the most extreme potentially sparking long-term conflict.
Newly appointed leader Motjaba Khamenei recently emphasized the call for “revenge” for Iran’s fallen soldiers in his first public address following the death of his father. He also issued warnings to Iran’s neighboring nations, threatening to seize their assets or inflict destruction in continuation of Iran’s regional hostilities.
Discussing potential compensation for the strikes, there were hints that Iran might seek restitution from wealthy Gulf States by seizing their assets. Additionally, the leader indicated Iran’s readiness to utilize proxies like Hezbollah to expand attacks beyond its borders.
Reports suggest that Motjaba Khamenei may have been injured in recent strikes, potentially altering the dynamics of the conflict. By targeting Gulf States aligned with the US, Tehran may have gained a strategic advantage.
The conflict, known as Operation Epic Fury in the US and Operation Rising Lion in Israel, has not progressed as anticipated. Analysts foresee three potential outcomes for the war, including a controlled degradation leading to negotiation, a protracted attritional conflict, or an escalation to regime change operations.
The most likely scenario currently predicted is a prolonged conflict where Iran’s strategic resilience, including drone capabilities, proxy networks, and economic leverage, poses challenges to US military superiority. The analysis also raises concerns about the possibility of regime change operations requiring ground troops, leading to significant humanitarian consequences and prolonged warfare.
