Naomi Osaka has pulled out of the Australian Open just before her third-round match. The 16th seed was set to face Maddison Inglis on Rod Laver Arena, but Inglis will now progress to the next round.

In a statement on Instagram, Osaka explained her decision to withdraw due to a physical issue that arose after her previous match. She expressed disappointment at having to end her run at the tournament but emphasized the need to prioritize her health to avoid further harm.

Speaking to the media, Osaka revealed that the injury was recurring and worsened during warm-up, prompting her to seek medical attention. She acknowledged the changes in her body post-pregnancy and highlighted the importance of caution moving forward.

This marks Osaka’s second consecutive withdrawal from a tournament after she also had to pull out of the Japan Open last year due to a left thigh injury. Despite starting the year representing Japan at the United Cup, she faced health issues and struggled in her matches.

Osaka had entered the Australian Open hoping for a successful run but faced challenges due to her health condition. She remains focused on taking each day and match as it comes, prioritizing her well-being above all.

The Japanese tennis star’s decision to withdraw from the Australian Open follows a series of health setbacks, emphasizing the need for proper care and recovery to ensure her long-term performance on the court.
