Easter baking holds a special place in my heart, with Cadbury Mini Eggs being a key ingredient in my holiday treats, whether I’m making Easter nests or a cheesecake. Curious about the quantity in each packet due to rising grocery costs, I decided to investigate the 74g bag, commonly found in stores like Tesco. Typically priced at £2, I was relieved to find them on Clubcard Price for £1.45 during my shopping trip.
I purchased six packets of Cadbury Mini Eggs to count the content in each, assuming they would all contain the same amount due to their identical weight. Surprisingly, this was not the case, as reported by the Express. The first bag had 22 eggs, equating to around 9p per egg at full price, which seemed steep for their small size.
The second and third packets contained 23 eggs each, while the fourth packet had 22.5 eggs due to one being broken. Despite the slight variation, packets five and six also held 23 eggs each. The cost of £2 still seemed high for the quantity received.
Although I enjoy using Cadbury Mini Eggs for Easter baking, the increasing cost of chocolate has made it a pricey indulgence. With chocolate prices on the rise due to poor harvests and manufacturers adjusting to maintain profits, some chocolate bars have even been labeled as “chocolate flavored” after cocoa content reductions to offset costs.
Fortunately, supermarket brands like Aldi and Lidl offer alternatives to pricey chocolates. M&S’s Speckled Eggs, priced at £2.75 for a 150g bag, have received positive reviews online and on Ocado. Despite Cadbury Mini Eggs typically being a staple in my kitchen, I may explore other options given the current pricing.
