Zero, a fintech banking app, has announced the cessation of its operations, prompting thousands of customers to transfer their funds to alternative accounts. The closure of the Zero Sustainable Money App will impact users with Zero Personal Accounts, Zero Debit Mastercards, or Planet Safe Savers.

According to MoneySavingExpert.com, Zero has a user base of 21,500, with only 7,500 regular app users. All customers have been notified via email by Zero regarding the necessary actions to be taken. The app is set to remain operational until March 31, although an early closure is possible.

MSE advises users to withdraw their funds before the closure date to avoid any potential issues. For those who do not withdraw, their funds will be held for six years, with access available through contacting zero@transactpay.com. Savings account holders with Zero will have their funds transferred to their personal accounts for subsequent transfer to another account.

Established in Cardiff in 2023 and launched to the public in January 2025, Zero Sustainable Money App is closing due to the inability to secure additional funding. The LinkedIn page of Zero Fintech Ltd was updated to announce the cessation of trading in March 2026.

The app offered features like GreenScore, which analyzed spending habits to assess sustainability. Zero aimed to raise awareness about the environmental impact of consumer spending. Co-founder and CEO, Richard Theo, envisioned a world where money positively impacts the planet, emphasizing the importance of sustainable banking practices.
